How tough is it to crack the SBI Clerk Mains Exam?

SBI Clerk Mains 2019 exam will be of 200 marks consisting of following sections namely English, General/Financial Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and Computer Ability. As we all know, the candidates who have cleared SBI Clerk Prelims 2019 exam will be eligible to appear in SBI Clerk Mains 2019 exam. The syllabus for Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and English will be same as it was for SBI Clerk Prelims Exam. The syllabus of Financial Awareness can be broadly divided into two sections namely Current Affairs (National/ International Current Affairs, Economy current affairs) and Static Affairs (Banking Theory, Banking Awareness). To prepare well for this section, you should be daily reader of financial newspapers like “The Economic Times”, where you will come across significant national and international financial news, articles and events. You should be well aware of important financial and banking terms (GDP, Repo Rate, Reverse Repo Rate, inflation etc) and news related to them. The candidates should put more emphasis on topics related to RBI & It’s Role, RBI’s Main Function, Banks in India, Policy Rates, Currency in India, Nationalization of Banks, NBFC, Accounts in Banks, ATMs, Non Performing Assets & SARFAESI Act, about DICGC, Financial Inclusion, Types of Money/ Notes, Priority Sector Lending, Important Banking Terms, Important Codes in Banking, Taglines of Banks, Head Quarters of Banks etc. To study them categorically, the students should consult recent issues of informative magazines like “Pratiyogyta Darpan”, CST, Chronicle, Wizard etc to have a better outlook. Do study the syllabus properly and design a proper strategy for it. You should devote 1 hour daily for this section. Consult subject experts or join a reputed coaching institute for better results. 

The newly introduced section of Computer Aptitude will be asked along with the Reasoning Section and the total marks of this section will be 50. The candidates need to work hard on topics like basic knowledge of Computer and its history, Operating Systems, Input- output Devices, Software hardware devices, MS Office and its various features like Word, Excel, Power point etc., various latest technologies in Computer related to banking and insurance industry, Networks like LAN, MAN and WAN, Security Terminologies like Antivirus, firewall, hackers etc.

The Quantitative Aptitude section, the toughest section, will be most challenging as new pattern has been introduced which is more complicated. The students will be restricted to solve this section in just 20 minutes, so they have to work hard on accuracy and speed. For swift calculations, the basics and concepts of every topic should be clear and emphasis should be laid on shortcuts and tricks. The important topics will be Decimal and Fractions, Simplification, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest (Simple and Compound), Profit and Loss, Time and distance, Problems on Sharing, Number Series, Frequency polygon, Bar-diagram, Pie-chart.

Due to sectional time-limit, the students will be allowed to solve English section in just 20 minutes. The students are advised to stress more on significant topics like Errors, Comprehension, Cloze Test, Phrase Replacement Etc. The Reading Comprehension section will be very time-consuming and so it should be taken in the end. This section will test student’s abilities in English grammar and vocabulary and so questions from topics like Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Sentence Correction, Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage, Sentence Rearrangement, should be thoroughly prepared.
The new exam pattern and syllabus of SBI Clerk Mains 2019 exam should be thoroughly studied and understood. The student can expect this exam time to be dicier, competitive as well as challenging because of newly introduced sections and variations in the exam pattern.
