Work Profile of IBPS RRB Officers
IBPS has notified various vacancies for RRB Officers in Grade I, II and III. Millions will apply for the post but only a few will get through it. Some appear in the exam without knowing much about the work profile of the officer and some knows it well. The detailed knowledge of the work profile should be known to the candidates who have applied for the post. It gives them a smooth start and nothing comes as a surprise to them.
IBPS RRB officer is a Management Trainee who is recruited on probation for two years. Full time job status is given to them only after successfully completing two working years as RRB officer. This job offers an in-hand salary from Rs. 29,000/- to Rs. 33,000/-. One gets increments from time to time as and when the promotions are granted.
Functions of RRB OFFICER
The functions of RRB Officer are not limited to rural area only rather they have duties to be performed in the bank functions also.
The primary duty of RRB officer is to render services in rural areas of India. They are trained to be acquainted with almost all the functions of the bank.
RRB Officer has to perform various functions these are:
- The Regular activities of banking
The RRB officer has to carry out all the relevant activities of a commercial bank officer on regular basis. He or she handles books of accounts, help desk for customers, develop public relations, managing cash book, etc.
- Provide Loans
The main duty of an officer is to grant loan facility to the rural areas. The officer assists them to procure agricultural loan to the farmers. It is a very risky and responsible task as it involves the evaluation of various legal documents. This is the main reason to establish RRB Banks as a move to eradicate zamindari system.
- To examine the pay back capacity of the lenders
RRB Officer is directly involved in the distribution of loans. He or she has to visit the lender’s farm from time to time to check his pay back capacity which makes this duty as a challenging one. It is generally observed that farmers are not able to pay back due to one or the other reasons.
- Maintain books to recover the loan
RRB officer’s duty is to maintain the loan accounts systematically so that a timely reminder can be given to the lenders. In case the lender is not able to pay back loan in time then officer has to seek an alternate for the recovery. Officer has the right to mortgage the customer’s property to recover the loan amount.
- Maintain good relationship with customers
Officer has to maintain good relations with the public in general. As the public in villages are not much educated to understand the banking procedures. Officer has to organize different awareness campaigns to make them aware about various functions and schemes running in the bank. Loan mela is organized at times to make the farmers aware of the benefits and help that bank can render at the time of need. Loan mela allows farmers to communicate directly to the bank officers without going to bank as it is organized at a place where more and more public can visit.
- Prepare auditing report of the bank
It is the duty of the officer to maintain the audit report of bank of every year and compare it with the last year report. Officer must know the annual status of balance sheet and make a subsequent report.
- Prepare daily report of Bank
Officer has to prepare a daily report of the bank activities and keep the higher authorities informed about it. It will help the officer to consult the high officials for any banking dealings.
- To implement various schemes
There are different schemes which are issued by the government to uplift the village standards. It is the duty of the concerned officer to implement such schemes in the branch and make run it successfully.
